Does Uber work?

Yes, Uber is a safe method of transportation to use in Brazil. In fact, ordering an Uber is generally much safer than walking or using the metro in large cities, especially at night or if you are traveling solo


Do you Tip in Brazil?

Restaurants and bars: A 10% "servico" charge is usually included in the bill, but you can tip more if the service is excellent. You can also round up the bill or leave a small tip for each drink. 

  • Hotels: Tipping is usually expected for room service, maids, bellboys, and valets. You can tip 10–20%. 

  • Taxi drivers: Tip 10% for a longer journey, or round up the bill for a short journey. 

  • Tour guides: Tip 10% standard, or more for an outstanding experience. For example, you can tip R$100 per full day for an English-speaking guide.

Traveling with Children?

Parents or a legal guardian traveling with children under 18 years must present the child's birth certificate and an identity card with photo (passport, for example) at the check-in. For international travels to Brazil, if just one of the parents is traveling with the child, she/he must present – in addition to the child's certificate of birth and identity card with photo – a letter authorizing the trip signed by the other parent with a notarial certification of signature. In case the parents or the legal guardian, as applicable, cannot or are unwilling to give this authorization, a judicial authorization is required. People who intend to travel to Brazil with children must consult with the Brazilian consulate before traveling for more information.
